Huskies Reach 40-Win Mark With Twinbill Sweep

MANSFIELD--The Bloomsburg University softball team reached the 40-win mark for the 14th time in school history after sweeping a pair of games from Mansfield on Tuesday by scores of 8-0 and 9-1 in five innings. The Huskies are now 40-7 on the season, 15-5 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division.
In the opener Tara Reed (Williamsport/Williamsport) went 3-4, scored three runs and drove in two, while Lori Neyhard (Bloomsburg/Central Columbia) was 3-3 with three RBI to lead the offense. In the circle, Ashley Lynn (Riverside/Danville) scattered five hits to earn her 18th win of the season.
Bloomsburg scored two runs in each of four innings. In the second inning Neyhard had a two-run single, while in the seventh Reed hit a two-run triple to make it 8-0.
In the nightcap, Jill Homyak (Lehighton/Marian Catholic) went 2-3 and scored two runs, while Reed and Neyhard each drove in two runs in the five-inning victory. Sheelin Fisher (Coplay/Allentown Central Catholic), the PSAC East Pitcher of the Week last week, earned her 13th win of the season.
The Huskies host West Chester on Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the regular season home finale.
